The Nunciature has highlighted the humility, love for the poor, and the tireless call for mercy, fraternity, and care for creation that characterized the papacy of the Pope. It has also announced the holding of a mass in memory of the pontiff on April 28 at the Basilica of Guadalupe at 4 PM.

Regarding the cause of Pope Francis' death, the Vatican reported that he passed away this Monday at the age of 88 as a result of a cerebral stroke that put him in a coma and led to irreversible circulatory failure. The death occurred at 7:35 AM local time on April 21 at his Vatican residence, Casa Santa Marta.

Francis had been struggling with severe respiratory issues for more than two months, which led him to be hospitalized at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome for 38 days until March 23.
